Procedure

In Australia, the seeds are picked from the palm trees. Then the seeds are dried on the spot. This is followed by the germination process, which takes about a year. The germinated seeds are imported by Hartog Palms from February to October by air freight. In the nursery, the sprouts are grown for sale as houseplants. Depending on the size, the plants are ready for sale after about two and a half to four years. Growing the plants is a very labour-intensive process. A lot of manual labour is required to achieve a high-quality product. A subtropical climate is created in the greenhouses using climate computers. The full range of Kentias is available from 80 centimetres to over three metres high.
